Student Restrictions
If you see “SR” (Student Restriction) on your student portal and are prevented from registering for classes, please check the following items to correct this issue:
- Check the Priority Registration Calendar to determine if it’s your turn to register.
- Check your Account Balance. Please log into your MyGav Student Portal and view your balance under the Student Account Tab to ensure that you have paid all required fees and avoid a cashier hold.
- If you have a Cashier Hold, you can pay your account balance by logging into your MyGav Student Portal. Holds are removed on the following business day after you pay your balance.
- For questions about Cashier Holds and payment issues contact Student Accounts at cashier@gavilan.edu.
- Check your Student Holds. Please log into your MyGav Student Portal and view your holds under the Student Account Tab.
- If you have a Library Hold for unreturned items valued $25 or more, please contact the Gavilan Library at libcirc@gavilan.edu or call 408-848-4810 for assistance.

- Check your Academic Standing by viewing your transcript. Is your GPA below a 2.0 or have you completed less than 50% of the classes you have attempted?
- Students on Probation 2, must meet with a counselor to complete an Improvement plan and have the hold removed.
- To meet with a counselor, visit www.gavilan.edu/counseling
- If you were previously enrolled in Non-Credit courses and are now interested in taking credit courses, you need to submit a new Admission application through CCC Apply
- If you have not attended Gavilan College in 2 or more semesters, you need to submit a new Admission application through CCC Apply
