Gavilan College Food Pantry
The Food Pantry at Gavilan College is here to provide essential food support to students and community members. Whether you need emergency food assistance or regular access to nutritious options, we’re committed to helping those in need. Please review our Food Pantry Guidelines to ensure a smooth and efficient experience when accessing our services.
- Sign-In Requirement: All individuals, especially students, are required to sign in for food pantry services.
- Limits and Regulations:
- Snacks: Participants may receive up to 2 snacks per day, including snacks from El Centro.
- Meal Card: Refer to the Meal Card FAQ for more information.
- Food Distribution: Open to the community.
- Weekly Family Bags: Available to the community, once a week.
Open to the Community
Families are required to pre-register for each distribution by clicking on the date below. You may register for all upcoming distributions in advance. Food distributions take place on the Gilroy Campus in Parking Lot H from 1:30–2:45 PM. If you have difficulty registering, please call us at (408) 852-2855 or email us at foodpantry@gavilan.edu.A Family Bag is a collection of food items provided by Second Harvest that you can receive every week. You can choose from a variety of grains and canned foods. Important: A sign-in form is required when picking up your bag at the food pantry.
What is CalFresh?
CalFresh, federally known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), provides monthly food benefits to individuals and families with low income. It also delivers economic benefits to communities, serving as California's largest food program and an essential hunger safety net.

- Students are limited to one transaction of up to $20 per day.
- If a student runs out of funds before the next distribution cycle, they are not eligible for another meal card.
- Lost or stolen cards must be reported immediately. Food Pantry staff will verify that the card has funds and is zeroed out before issuing a replacement.
- Students can check their card balance online at www.getyourbalance.com.
- Students needing help with the EFC calculator can receive assistance at El Centro or the Food Pantry.

Medically Tailored Meal (MTM) Program
We’re excited to share information about the Medically Tailored Meal (MTM) Program, offered by Project Food Box!
This program provides, free, customized fresh fruit and vegetable boxes designed to support the health and well-being of Medi-Cal members. Fresh produce is sourced from local farms and delivered straight to participants’ doorsteps, bridging the gap between nutrition and healthcare.
Key Program Benefits
- Personalized Nutrition: Each 15-18 lb. grocery box is curated by Registered Dietitians to address specific chronic health conditions.
- Fresh, Local, and Free: Weekly deliveries of fresh fruits and vegetables for up to 24 weeks, free of charge, to Medi-Cal members.
- Improved Health Outcomes: Research shows that access to nutritious food can enhance quality of life and support better health outcomes.
