PEDAGOGY PHILOSOPHY:
As a student, I hope to help you learn and develop skill sets that will help you become a better communicator at home, in the workplace or with friends as well as understand some of the academic expectations when you transfer to your four year college of your choice. My courses are structured with various activities and key assignments to enhance your abilities as public speakers as well as active group members, in addition to being more aware of your self and your role with others in various types of relationships. Students should be expected to use all forms of media as well as some online tools to enhance their speaking styles.
As an educator, I offer my insight and experience in various settings from education, non-profit work as well as training and development. I enjoy many parts of work; however, having a strong work ethic is what I pride myself on. I ask for all students to maintain open communication lines, advocate for themselves and ask questions to ensure these semesters together count. Both myself and students are collaborating and communicating throughout the semester to become better people. I can only hope to have that relationship with each student seated in class.
I pride myself on keeping my connections with students. Selfishly, I hope to create new connections with those that are working in their desired career connecting to those that are curious about job roles in that same genre. My biggest hope for students would be to have a better understanding or taste of what is to come in a given career field. If I am able to help foster that knowledge, I feel I have been successful as educator as well as a positive member of the Gavilan community.
