High Tech Center Software for All
Kurzweil 3000 for All (Fall 2023)
Instructors: Are your students having difficulty reading your online course materials, note-taking, and studying in your online course? Give your students access to your online materials with Kurzweil 3000's text to speech multi-sensory approach to learning. All participants will receive access to the Kurzweil 3000 web app, "Read the Web" toolbar, and instructions on how your students can use the program.
Students: Do you have a lot of reading in your online environment? Wouldn’t it be great if you could turn your text into speech and listen to all your online course materials? Kurzweil 3000 is a text-to-speech application that can be used to read aloud documents and websites. Along with providing the text-to-speech feature, Kurzweil 3000 also provides built-in study features and writing tools. Kurzweil 3000 can take an image-only PDF and convert it into searchable, accessible text. It can read the text aloud to you in a variety of voices, speeds, and languages. It provides annotation tools such as highlighting and notes. It supports writing with concept mapping, outlines, and a wide variety of templates.
Universities and colleges have been using this program within their Accessible Education Centers for many years. Now that our courses are primarily online, the High Tech Center has made the Kurzweil 3000 Online Web app and the Read the Web toolbar available to every current student at Gavilan College, as well as, staff and faculty members.
