Peer Online Course Review (POCR)
The Gavilan College POCR (Peer Online Course Review) process allows faculty to align their online courses with the highest standards of course design - the CVC-OEI Course Design Rubric. Specially trained local peer reviewers will provide support, resources, a full review using the Rubric, and individualized feedback to ensure a faculty author’s online course receives a “Quality Reviewed" Badge with priority status on the California Virtual Campus Exchange.
What is POCR?
The Peer Online Course Review Process is a free, online professional development program for full and part-time faculty teaching online Gavilan. This program combines Peer Online Course Review (POCR) with the benefits of support from the distance education department and an opportunity to receive constructive, supportive feedback from one of your peers.
As a participant in POCR, you receive:
-
Confidential, positive, and constructive feedback and course design recommendations from fellow online faculty through Peer Online Course Review (POCR).
-
Support from the Distance Education Staff to assist you with applying your feedback and getting the most from the tools and features in Canvas.
-
Hands-on assistance, as needed, to help you make your course fully aligned with the OEI Rubric and 508 compliant!
-
A streamlined process to the CVC exchange for faster approval, which guarantees a Quality Reviewed “badge” for your course that will help it rise to the top of the student search at cvc.edu.
-
The satisfaction of teaching a course that has met the CVC-OEI’s highest level of design standards of quality and accessibility to support online student success!
Why Align?
Aligning your course to the CVC Rubric translates to improved student success; Quality-Badged courses produce student success rates 4.9% rates higher than the statewide average for online courses!
