Staying in Contact
In order to keep up with our extensive on-line resources, staff training opportunities and current events, you are required to keep your contact information upd to date and to utilize your Gavilan College email account. When Faculty are first hired, the Human Resources department is responsible for forwarding the employee information to the MIS department so that a faculty account can be created.Updating Your Contact Information
To update your contact information (e.g., address, phone number, emergency contact):
- Log on to your myGav portal and click on the Faculty tab
- Click on Gavilan Self-Service Banner
- Click on Personal Information

Gavilan College utilizes the Outlook Web Application (OWA) for email. To establish your Gavilan email address, contact your area Dean, or the MIS department at 408-848-4900 x4357. Once you have been set up, you can check your email by logging into your myGav portal or going to https://webmail.gavilan.edu. Take a look at our Outlook Web Application (OWA) Basic Training.

MyGav Portal/Intranet
The MyGav Portal and Intranet hold all information you need to know as a faculty member. To log on:
- Go to www.gavilan.edu
- Click the
button on the top right of the page - Log in with your Gavilan ID number (G00#) and pin
- Click on the Intranet Tab
Faculty Mailboxes
All faculty are assigned a mailbox for materials pertaining to classes and notices to you as an employee. All Faculty mailboxes are located in the Multipurpose Building Room MP 129.
To obtain a faculty mailbox or for questions regarding your mail, please contact Joanie Benevento at jbenevento@gavilan.edu or 408-848-4750.
GavAlert
Gavilan College has partnered with Rave Mobile Safety to provide an emergency notification system called GavAlert. The system is used to send emergency notifications to Gavilan faculty, staff, and students in the event of a campus emergency such as a campus closure or hazardous situation. The system will send notifications through email, voice calls, and text messaging.
To access GavAlert log on to your myGav portal and click on GavAlert.
