Vice President, A. S. Finalists - Candidate Forums
by on Mar 6, 2023Following a national search, the finalists have been selected for the position of Vice President, Administrative Services. The finalists will participate in Candidate Forums at the Gavilan College campus (Social Science 214) according to the following schedule.

The Candidate Forums will be live-streamed and recorded. A recording of the Candidate Forums will be available for viewing following the forums. Links for live-streaming will be provided in a subsequent email sent closer to March 17. Links to the recordings will be provided through an email communication following the Candidate Forums.

Submissions will be reviewed for appropriateness. Related or similar questions will be grouped together and asked as one question. Due to forum time constraints, we cannot guarantee that all questions submitted will be presented to the candidates. The deadline to submit questions is 5 p.m. on March 10, 2023.
About the Finalists
Carole Kempler Meagher, MBA, EdD
Upon graduation from college, Dr. Carole worked at GE Company in the Financial Management Program and Corporate Audit Staff. She then moved to the capital equipment and software industries structuring deals, managing company-wide and sector budgets and forecasts, global consolidation processes, mergers and acquisitions and SEC reporting. After her years in finance and accounting, she shifted functions and served as a global marketing director for several financial technology companies.
At CCSF, Dr. Carole discovered her calling by teaching business to the wonderfully diverse San Francisco community. She brought her business and quantitative experiences to faculty roles as a member of the Basic Skills Committee, as Co-Chair of the Enrollment Management Committee, Vice Chair of the Curriculum Committee and as member of the Academic Senate Executive Council.
As Interim Director of CCSF Extension, Dr. Carole provided administrative leadership and supervision for self-supporting contract education and continuing education programs while working closely with academic departments to launch new programs, expanding CCSF’s reach in the community. She most recently served as CCSF’s Supervising Fiscal Officer where started building financial planning and reporting into all aspects of college academic, facilities, and program planning.
Dr. Carole holds a BA in Political Economy of Industrial Societies from UC Berkeley, an MBA from Santa Clara University, an EdD from University of San Francisco in Organization and Leadership, and a Certificate in Spanish from City College of San Francisco.
Marilyn Morikang
Marilyn Morikang is a community college administrator with over 15 years of experience at the college and district level. Currently employed at West Valley College as the Vice President of Administrative Services, Marilyn oversees all aspects of college fiscal operations, including resource allocation processes, budget development, planning, coordination, and monitoring of the college budget. She also oversees printing services, facility rentals, and contract relationships with the bookstore and food services. She coordinates facilities planning and maintenance, construction projects, emergency preparedness, and other college operations.
Marilyn is an energetic and innovative leader passionate about supporting students like she was supported when she migrated to the US from Cameroon, Central Africa. She always thinks of her pathway and wants to give back to her community that has supported her throughout her journey. She values collaboration, teamwork, and a student-centered approach to leadership. She is a collaborative financial leader with an equity-minded lens to resource allocation. Marilyn believes the college budget should reflect the college’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. She used this mindset to successfully lead the planning and development of a new integrated program review resource request and allocation process for West Valley College. Creating a culture at the college that forges strong working relationships and partnerships across all constituencies. Marilyn is a humble leader who leads to serve, motivating her team to perform at their personal best and inspiring others through her own enthusiasm. She is always looking for new and innovative ways to solve problems.
Before joining West Valley College, Marilyn held several roles at San Jose City College – as Business Services Supervisor, Director of College Fiscal Services, and Acting Vice President of Administrative Services. She led the college transition to online learning during the pandemic, ensuring that technology resources were available for all faculty, students, and staff. Marilyn has also held several roles at San Jose Evergreen Community College District in the fiscal services unit.
Marilyn has lived in Gilroy for 12 years with her husband and two kids; she likes the outdoors especially hiking at Mt. Madona. A leader in her local community coordinating activities to support immigrant families.
