President's Message - Weather Conditions
by on Jan 10, 2023Dear community,
I hope you had a good and safe long weekend.
This last run of storms has resulted in further saturation of the earth, susceptibility of healthy trees falling, and numerous potholes and debris on major highways and roads. As always, your safety is most important to us.
The Executive team met this morning. Given unstable road conditions, we have decided to continue operating the campus with limited services through, tomorrow Wednesday, 1/18. Our college will fully re-open all services on Thursday, 1/19.
Today, Tuesday, 1/17, and tomorrow Wednesday, 1/18, the following limited on-campus services will be provided by employees who live near the college and feel safe driving to campus. Limited on-campus service hours will remain from 10 am to 4 pm.
- Welcome Center
- Bookstore
- Campus Security
- Grounds and Maintenance
- IT Support
- Athletic Events
All other services will remain via remote modality from 8 am to 5 pm for Tues., 1/17 and Wed. 1/18.
Access remote services and Spring sign up information
Many thanks to Michele Castro, and the peer mentors at the Welcome Center who will continue to provide essential on-campus support to our students, including signing up for Spring classes, during our limited hours (10 am - 4 pm). Feel free to reach out to them: (408) 848-4800 ext. 5108.
Once again, I want to recognize our Grounds and Maintenance teams, who continue to assess the safety of our campus in regard to trees, clearing drains/walkways and checking classrooms.
If you plan to come to campus today and tomorrow, you will need to travel to our college from the north side of Santa Teresa Boulevard. Castro Valley Road and Mesa Road are closed. Also, if coming on campus, we recommend you wear appropriate footgear for walking over after storm debris, mud and puddles.
