Jaime Mata, Interim Chief Business Officer
by Gavilan College on Jul 29, 2022Gavilan College is glad to announce that they have secured the services of Mr. Jaime Mata to serve as its interim CBO. Mr. Mata was previously serving as an active CBO for a K-12 district, has experience working with post-secondary institutions, and has managed and provided oversight of bond-funded capital investment activities and construction projects. Mr. Mata will provide our district with stability during the fall semester and allow us to conduct a full search during the spring semester to fill the permanent CBO position.
Jaime Mata holds a Master of Business Administration in Business Management from Pepperdine University and a master’s in educational business administration/School Business Official (CBO) from the American College of Education. He is a Certified CBO through the California Association of School Business Officials.
He has over 17 years of serving in progressively responsible finance, operations, and strategic leadership positions, including Chief Operations Officer (COO), CBO, and Regional Director, four of which were in post-secondary settings. During his tenure as a CBO, he has managed and provided oversight of bond-funded capital investment activities and construction projects. As a result, Mr. Mata holds a broad range of experience and an extensive skill set, serving as a key member at the C-lever.
Mr. Mata was born in Los Angeles, California. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army. He has also served in state-wide and national workforce initiatives that advance economic, post-secondary education, and human development for youth and adult learners. Mr. Mata enjoys running, boxing, and relaxing by the swimming pool with his wife and four daughters.
