Noah Lystrup, New Dean of Student Learning, Equity and Success for Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences
by on Jun 7, 2022Gavilan College is pleased to welcome and introduce Noah Lystrup as the new Dean of Student Learning, Equity and Success for Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.
Throughout his educational and professional career, Noah has focused on expanding access to higher education and supporting students through college completion. Noah joins us from City College of San Francisco where he served as the Dean of Student Engagement & Wellness. In that role, Noah oversaw faculty, classified staff, and administrators in the Student Health Services department, Student Activities Office, and Office of Student Conduct & Discipline. He was also responsible for leading the Student Service Area Outcomes work for the division.
Prior to that, Noah served as the Bridge to Success Coordinator – acting as the liaison between the San Francisco K-12 school district and the San Francisco community college, helping to improve matriculation and college readiness efforts. In that role, Noah worked collaboratively with the English and ESL faculty at the college and the English and ESL teachers at the high school level, to conduct joint professional development opportunities to better prepare high school students for the transition into college level work.
Noah was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and grew up in Sacramento, California. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). Upon earning his bachelor’s degree, Noah worked for several years at UCSD coordinating outreach and retention programs. He earned his master’s degree in educational policy and organizational leadership from the Stanford Graduate School of Education.
