Zoom Settings

Suggestions on setting up a secure Zoom meeting.

• Mute participants upon entry = Enable
• File transfer = Disable
o Prevent people from uploading inappropriate files/images
• Co-host = Enable (Add several co-hosts)
o Host can assign up to 50 co-host once meeting starts
o Co-host job is the monitor chat, removing any unruly participants, etc.
o During Q/A session, co-host can read the questions posted in chat
• Screen sharing > Who can share? = Host Only (includes co-hosts)
• Annotation = Disable
• Whiteboard = Disable
• Virtual background = Disable
o Prevent people from setting inappropriate backgrounds
• Disabled people renaming themselves
• We also enabled waiting room. On the Zoom meeting, before it started we selected “mute all” and then un-muted the host and then others prior to talking. Within chat box: we selected that participants can chat only with host until we opened up the chat box. You can also select “chat with no one” and then open it up.

Plus-we assigned roles like bouncers, moderator, co-hosts and screen-sharers. We also put a “Please stay muted” page on display at the beginning.
