Gavilan Spanish celebrates 400 years of Cervantes
As the literary world pays tribute to Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, author of the first modern novel (Don Quijote, published 1605-1616) and perhaps the most important Spanish writer of all times, the Spanish department invites you to learn more about Cervantes and Don Quijote:
-
- browse the extensive bookshelf within GASPAR, the online Gavilan Spanish Reader, available via iLearn to all students enrolled in the Spanish program,
- check out the interactive bi-lingual version on the web, or at the Gilroy campus computer lab,
- read the first English translation (1612, 1620) by Thomas Shelton, or the popular Jarvis translation.
