Gavilan College Confirms Student Financial Aid Remains Stable Amid Federal Changes
Dear Gavilan College Community,
Following yesterday's directive from the White House Office of Management and Budget, Gavilan College confirms that student financial aid remains fully operational and unaffected by the federal funding pause. The California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office has verified that student aid programs are explicitly protected under this directive (subsequently, a federal judge issued an injunction that temporarily restores funding).
At Gavilan College, our students' success is our highest priority, especially during times of uncertainty. I want our students and their families to know that their financial aid is secure, and we will continue providing all the resources needed to support their educational goals.
The federal directive specifically exempts Pell grants and direct student aid from any pause in funding. Gavilan College's Financial Aid Office continues normal operations, maintaining all regular processing and disbursement schedules.
Kelli Bostwick, Director of Financial Aid, has sent all students a message with this information. Students with questions can contact the Financial Aid Office at 408-848-4727 and finaid@gavilan.edu.
Kind Regards,
Dr. Pedro Avila
