Campus Announcement
Dear Campus Community,
For over a century, Gavilan College has been committed to empowering students to achieve their dreams and contribute to the betterment of our society. Now, we celebrate the opening of our state-of-the-art Hollister campus, a significant step forward in fulfilling that mission. The ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday was a great success, with over 200 attendees. Representatives from the State Senate and Assembly recognized the center's expansion of higher education offerings for San Benito County.
I want to congratulate Serafin Fernandez, our Director of Capital Projects, for leading this project to completion. The 34,000 sq.ft. facility features a light-filled welcome center with a mural honoring Hollister's Indigenous roots, as well as classrooms, labs, a café, and spaces for student support and faculty collaboration. Prioritizing hybrid learning, the campus provides accessible, modern spaces designed for technology, flexibility, and collaboration. The new all-electric campus is net-zero energy ready with plans to integrate future solar, aligning with our sustainability goals.
As we embark on this new chapter, we look forward to shaping the future of higher education in San Benito County and welcoming students when the Hollister campus opens in January.
Kind Regards,
Dr. Pedro Avila
