Advisory: Prefer that students meet the requirements for the State Child Development Teacher Permit or completion of a college-level course of study in child development or early childhood education, or equivalent, or permission of instructor. |

A study of the methods and principles of supervising assistant teachers, parents and other adults in early childhood classrooms. Emphasis is on the role of the experienced classroom teacher who functions as a "mentor/supervisor" to student teachers, teacher aides, assistant teachers, and other adults in the classroom, while simultaneously addressing the needs of children and parents. This course meets the state requirements for a "2 unit adult supervision course" for the master teacher, program director, and site director permit. It also meets the necessary prerequisite course for those wishing to apply to the Mentor Teacher Program. |
