CD 15:    Exploring Music with Children
Advisory:: Eligible for English 250 and English 260.

Techniques for helping the non-musician to express emotions and ideas in a musical fashion, practice in building simple rhythm instruments and using rhythm in song instruction. An extensive discography and bibliography will be provided each student.

CD 17:    Exploring Science with Children
Advisory:: Eligible for English 250 or 260.
Transferable: CSU
Learn to teach an ongoing, coordinated science curriculum to young children that builds on knowledge children already possess and uses materials that are easily located and of low cost. The Socratic method of questioning is taught as the basis of encouraging reasoning in children.

CD 19:    Introduction to Careers with Children
Advisory:: Eligible for English 250 and English 260.
Transferable: CSU
An overview of Department of Social Services and Department of Education regulations regarding child care workers in California. Self-assessment techniques with emphasis on teacher-child and teacher-adult relationships and personal evaluations. Basic principles of curriculum development and discipline techniques. This course has the option of a letter grade or credit/no credit.
