PHYS 1 Introduction to Physics
An introduction to the concepts of mechanics, thermodynamics, fluids, waves, electricity, magnetism, and modern physics. Laboratories will emphasize the integration of physics with modern technology.

A calculus based study of the fundamental principles of mechanics, fluid mechanics and waves. Vectors, particle kinematics and dynamics, work and energy, conservation of momentum, rotational kinematics and dynamics, oscillatory motion, fluid mechanics, sound and mechanical waves. Students gain experience in the application of computers in science. CAN: PHYS B
 
Prerequisite: Physics 2A and Mathematics 1A
Advisory: Mathematics 1B (may be concurrent), and CSIS 5/ENGR 5; eligible for English 250 and English 260.
