THEA 3:    El Teatro Campesino

This short term course includes the viewing and discussion of the work of El Teatro Campesino and Founder/Artistic Director, Luis Valdez from 1965 to the present. Live theatrical productions, films and plays created and produced by ETC will be studied.

THEA 4:    Oral Reading

An introduction to the analysis, preparation and dramatic reading of literature, including classical and contemporary prose, poetry and drama. Students prepare, analyze and orally present and interpret great works of drama and literature for an audience. This course is also listed as CMUN 2.

THEA 12A:    Acting: History and Practice

An introduction to the historical development of acting as a practice of human cultural expression. Students will acquire a vocabulary for theatre performance as an art form and analyze dramatic works in a historical context. Practice of basic acting concepts, character analysis, preparation and performances of monologues and scenes will be required in the course.

THEA 19:    Television and Film Acting

Theory and practice of acting for film and television. Students will learn basic performance techniques for the camera. Learning experiences include projects in broadcasting, reporting, commercials, public service announcements (psa), comedy and drama.

THEA 22:    Field Work and Service
Required: Learning contracts must be filled out and signed by the student and the supervising instructor.
Transferable: CSU
Supervised field work within the college and with local agencies. Students serve in useful group activities in leadership roles prescribed for them by faculty or community agencies. A maximum of six units may be completed. This is a credit/no credit course.

Designed to afford selected students specialized opportunities for exploring areas at the independent study level. The courses may involve extensive library work, research in the community, or special projects. May be repeated until six units of credit are accrued.
