Students will observe films, videos, and one live theatrical production produced by El Teatro Campesino during the semester.

THEA 12A:    Acting: History and Practice

An introduction to the historical development of acting as a practice of human cultural expression. Students will acquire a vocabulary for theatre performance as an art form and analyze dramatic works in a historical context. Practice of basic acting concepts, character analysis, preparation and performances of monologues and scenes will be required in the course.

THEA 17B:    Television and Video Workshop
Advisory:: Completion of Theatre Arts 17A.

Emphasis will be placed on production and post-production techniques in video production. Students will increase knowledge and skills by participating in live or taped projects produced in the Gavilan Television Studio. Course may be repeated twice for credit.

THEA 19:    Television and Film Acting

THEA 22:    Field Work and Service
Required:: Learning contracts must be filled out and signed by the student and the supervising instructor.
Transferable: CSU; UC
Supervised field work within the college and with local agencies. Students serve in useful group activities in leadership roles prescribed for them by faculty or community agencies. A maximum of six units may be completed. This is a credit/no credit course.
