Board Facilities Subcommittee Minutes

January 16, 2007

1) Call Meeting to Order: Trustee Tom Breen called the meeting to order at 4:48 p.m.
2) Approve Minutes: Minutes from the November 13 meeting were approved unanimously. MS (Smith/Dover).
3) Comments from the Public: No comments from the public.

4) Status of Measure E Landscaping Project
 

Bob Tanaka and Charlie Lanfranco, both from the Tanaka Design Group, provided the Committee with the following three (3) handouts; (1) Landscape Master Plan Presentation Agenda dated January 16, 2007, (2) Arborist's Report for Gavilan College Campus 2007; and (3) Gavilan College Landscape Master Plan Report - Draft January 2007. In addition, a number of various campus overview maps for lighting and hillside contours were displayed. The presentation included the purpose of the Plan, sight conditions, access, circulation, lighting, and signage. Discussion took place as the presentation progressed.

At the conclusion of the presentation, the Committee agreed to have the Tanaka Design Group along with BFGC Architects and Kitchell put together a list of priorities and sequences in the implementation of the Plan. Once that is complete, a meeting will be set to review this document and solicit additional input from the Committee.

5) Status of Measure E Projects and Timelines
 

Joe referred to Measure E Construction Update #6 and highlighted that the Interim Housing Phase I bid closes on January 30, 2007 and will be brought to the February board meeting for action. In addition, it is expected that the work in parking lot F outside of Admissions and Records will be completed by the end of the week, January 19, 2007. Over the next few weeks, the District will move ahead with an analysis of what needs to be done concerning the water tank. The information included in the analysis will be brought back to the Committee. Also, the District and its consultants are meeting to review the current FPP's and IPP's in order to continue to seek state funding for District facility projects.
