FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS How do I register for summer STAR? There are two ways to register for STAR. You can register for any of STAR's Programs by contacting Gavilan STAR Program Coordinator at 408-612-2056 or by filling out a registration form online. Do I have to pay for parking to drop off my STAR kid? You must purchase a parking permit (75 cents) from machines located in the parking lot, if you plan to be on campus longer than 15 minutes when dropping off or picking up your STAR children. All STAR parents should receive a "15 minute Drop Off" parking pass from the program when you register your student. Your child should be dropped off and picked up in front of the theater. Please make sure that your STAR kids arrive on time to begin the day. Children MUST be picked up each day by 4 p.m. daily. What About Lunch? Gilroy STAR - SUMMER The Gav Cafe is open during lunch at STAR. Your child can choose to purchase lunch from the Cafe or bring their own lunch to enjoy in the cafeteria. Please remember, GUM IS NOT ALLOWED AT STAR. Parents please encourage your children to buy and bring healthy snacks. The lunch hour is from 12-1 during regular operating hours and 12:30-1:30 during tech week. San Juan Bautista STAR Students in theSan Juan Bautista program MUST bring their lunch to the program. There are NO onsite food vendors at the at El Teatro Campesino. Sometimes group lunch pot lucks or BBQ's are organized and parents will be notified the Monday before the event.
FALL AND SPRING STAR MINI CAMPS Students enrolledl in the Spring and Fall STAR mini-camps are encouraged to bring snacks for a mid moring break. Is there a costume fee? No. Parents may be asked to provide some basic costume pieces (i.e. a black shirt or socks, shoes). Students will be costumed for the show by the costumer. Students will be given a Costume Note to take home during STAR. These notes will detail any costume piece that will need to be provided and any make up instructions. The notes will all be posted online. Is there a Dress Code? We encourage parents to help us make sure their child is dressed appropriately for STAR. This means clothing and jewelry that is not going to get in the way or prevent your child from moving and participating onstage and in workshops. Flip-flops are not allowed on stage. Students may bring a change of clothes if nessisary. Where can I get a Video/ DVD? A STAR video yearbook is available at the end of the program. The cost for a VHS copy $25.00 which includes shipping and handling. The Cost for a DVD copy is $35.00 which also includes shipping and handling.
