Administrative Staff Unit Leader II
Production Positions

STAR Program Coordinator
Stipend (Pending)

 

STAR Administrative Coordinator
Stipend (Filled)

  • Performs administrative office and box office assistance including but not limited to: Attendance reports, filing records for the program, answer phones, typing letters to parents, duplication of documents, sending/receiving faxes, box office reservations and ticket sales.
  • Excellent computer and organizational skills a MUST. 
  • Knowledge of web site maintenance using Macromedia Contribute or Dreamweaver; Adobe Photshop; and video editing software is a plus.

Unit Leader I
Stipend (Open)

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Directly responsable for the creation and implementation of a theater arts based, youth focused curriculim for use during daily unit time.
  • Prepare and facilitate workshops.
  • Complete all aspects of a designated lead production assignment.
  • Provide supervision of youth at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/ GED
  • At least 30 college units completed.
  • Ideal areas of study: Theatre Arts, Dance, Voice, Child Development, Education, Art, Music, Recreation, Television/Video/Teledramatic Arts/Digital Media.
  • 3 years minimum experience working in STAR or other theatre arts related program.
  • Extensive prior performance and professional production experience in a specific production area.
  • Excellent Communication, Leadership, and Organizational Skills.
  • Ability and experience in working effectively in a group setting.

Unit Leader II
Stipend (Open)

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Prepare and implement Unit Time activites with youth during daily unit time.
  • Prepare and facilitate workshops.
  • Complete all aspects of assigned production role.
  • Provide supervision of youth at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/ GED
  • Some College Education (preferred)
  • At least one year experience working with youth in a summer camp/ recreational setting.
  • Performance experience and volunteer or professional production experience in a specific theatrical production area.
  • Ideal areas of interest: Theatre Arts, Dance, Voice, Child Development, Education, Art, Music, Recreation,Television/Video/Teledramatic Arts/Digital Media.
  • Strong Communication skills and leadership abilities.
  • Ability and experience in working effectively in a group setting.

Unit Leader III
Stipend (Open)

STAR Intern (High School)
Unpaid Volunteer

STAR Internships are available to students who are too old to be participants in the STAR Program and have not yet graduated from high school. These internships provide students with a wonderful opportunity to be trained as STAR Leaders and “get their feet wet,” learning about all the responsibilities STAR Leaders carry. Half day and full day internships will be available according to program needs.

STAR Intern applicants should complete the Gavilan College Application and the Supplemental Application Questions. Please indicate on your application what you are most interested in learning about while interning at STAR. What production roles are you interested in assisting? Are you interested in assisting during afternoon unit time and workshop activities?

Production Positions

Production Director
Stipend (Open)

Perform duties as required to direct the production assigned from pre-production, auditions and casting, rehearsals and performances.

Choreographer
Stipend (Open)

Create, teach and implement dance and movement for assigned production

Vocal Director 
Stipend (Open)

Responsible for leading youth through vocal exercises and rehearsal.

Costume Coordinator
Stipend (Open)

Responsible  for design and organization of costumes for assigned production. Gather, prepare, and create costume pieces. Communication and coordinate costume needs and requirements to actors.

Prop Master
Stipend (Open)

Design, create, gather, prepare, and organize props for assigned production.

Hair and Make Up Design
Stipend (Open)

Responsible for the design of hair and make up for assigned production. Communicate and coordinate makeup needs and requirements to actors.

Youth Supervisor
Stipend (Open)

Assists the Director, Choreographer, Vocal Director, and other Production Staff in leading youth through the rehearsal process.

 

Production Assistant
Hourly (Filled)

Assist the Technical Director with the construction, load in and strike (clean-up) of all production sets, props and related technical elements as required.  Work with STAR staff and directly with the Technical Director.
