Science Alive

...will be on Saturday, March 8th, 2025!
Registration for the Science Alive Spring 2025 Event is now closed!
At Science Alive, local middle school students engage in enjoyable, hands-on science activities led by Gavilan faculty, college science and engineering majors, and local STEM professionals.
This year, we will have sessions on the chemistry of soap, deductive reasoning, separate dissections of a lamb's heart and a cow's eye, getting the DNA out of strawberries, fractals, genes and genomics, catalysts and polymers, optical illusions, cryptography, and separate sessions on building and understanding the science behind an electric motor, a trebuchet, a hovercraft, and a wind turbine. We will also have a workshop on how to make a chatbot and learn about artificial intelligence.
Check out this list of Workshops for this year to see what will be at the event!
