Register for the Science Alive Spring 2024 Event
At Science Alive, local middle school students engage in enjoyable, hands-on science activities led by Gavilan faculty, college science and engineering majors, and local STEM professionals.
This year, we will have sessions on the chemistry of soap, deductive reasoning, separate dissections of a lamb's heart and a cow's eye, getting the DNA out of strawberries, fractals, genes and genomics, catalysts and polymers, optical illusions, cryptography, and separate sessions on building and understanding the science behind an electric motor, a trebuchet, a hovercraft, and a wind turbine. We will also have a workshop on how to make a chatbot and learn about artificial intelligence.
Registration will open at 6 PM on Thursday, February 1 and students need to register before Tuesday, April 9th. Students will find out the actual workshops they will attend when they sign in on Saturday, April 13th.
Hollister students will not have the ability to ride on a passenger van from Rancho San Justo.
