Job-Hunters Welcome: Career Day at Gavilan College

WHO: Students, job-hunters, and people considering a career change

WHAT: Are invited to attend Career Day at Gavilan College. Exhibitors representing diverse career fields including health care, law enforcement, public service, retail, and the military will be on hand to discuss job and career opportunities.
"It's not just a job fair, but a chance to learn about careers, and to find out what types of preparation and education those careers require. People who are considering going back to school for retraining or better opportunities can get some ideas about what they'd like to do that will help them with educational goals," said Jan Stewart, coordinator of the Gavilan College Career and Transfer Center.
Attendees may bring resume's to hand out, as some employers are now hiring. Employers with no currently open positions will have the opportunity to educate future applicants about appropriate career preparation. There will be door prize drawings for gift certificates and other items. This event is free and open to the public.

WHEN: Wednesday, April 21, from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

WHERE: Student Center, Gavilan College main campus, 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd., Gilroy, CA

WHY: Career Day is an annual event at which students and the public may explore diverse career fields, and become knowledgeable about the types of training and education that are required to pursue them. The Gavilan College Career and Transfer Center organizes Career Day, as well as providing one-on-one assistance and workshops to students .
