What: Gavilan College's annual health & resource fair is open to the public. During these difficult economic times, Gavilan College is offering these services to anyone in the community regardless of their financial situation. This event, which regularly draws over 1,500 visitors, is free and open to people of all ages (any of our free tests can be performed on children, as long as a parent or guardian is present).
Visitors will have an opportunity to speak with dozens of representatives from local organizations including the American Red Cross of Silicon Valley, Breathe California, Chamberlains Mental Health Services, Community Solutions, Department of Child Support Services, Emmaus House, Gilroy Lions Club, Gilroy Unified Health Services, Hazel Hawkins Hospital, Hollister Pregnancy Center / STD Clinic, HOPE Services, Informed Choices, Saint Louise Regional Hospital, San Andreas Regional Center, Santa Clara County HIV Van, Santa Clara County Tobacco Prevention and Education Program, School Health Clinics of Santa Clara County, and Valley Health Center Gilroy.
Visitors can also get referrals for counseling, and be tested for blood pressure, blood glucose, HIV / AIDS (which is confidential and involves no needles). The Gilroy Lions Club will also be offering free vision screenings by a licensed optometrist, and free pregnancy testing will be available for women 18 and up.
