Gavilan College, Gilroy, CA - Students at Gavilan College have a new option for the popular "Introduction to PublicSpeaking" class this fall. For this first time, the course will be offered in a five week format as well as the popular semester-long format. The five-week class will cover the same material and meet for the same total number of hours of instruction as the semester-long option, and will also carry three units of credit. Students can complete their Oral Communications requirement in only 5 weeks, providing more flexibility for students balancing school with work and family responsibilities.
Introduction to Public Speaking (CMUN 1A) is transferable to California State University and University of California. It teaches the "basic principles of effective human communication and their function in contemporary public settings; emphasis is on speeches to inform and persuade," according to the catalog description of the course.
Three sections will be offered during the fall semester. They will meet Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 2:30 p.m. - 5:50 p.m. on the Gilroy campus:
- Section 10382 begins August 29 and runs through September 27
- Section 10376 begins October 2 and runs through November 1
- Section 10383 begins November 6 and runs through December 6
