GAVILAN COLLEGE - Gavilan College fees for state residents will increase from $20 to $26 for the Fall semester, thanks to AB 2X, signed into law by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger earlier today. Community college fees are set by the state legislature rather than local boards, and the fee increase applies to every community college in the state.
Many students have already registered for Fall classes at the lower rate: they will be billed for the difference in accordance with the new state requirement. Students who are eligible for Board of Governors fee waivers will have the increase automatically covered. Students with financial hardship or questions relating to loans and scholarships should contact the Financial aid office at (408) 848-4727.
Fees were last set at $26 per unit during the economic downturn of 2003. Even at $26 p unit, California community colleges have the lowest fees in the nation.
Fall classes start September 1. To register, go to www.gavilan.edu or call (408) 848-4800.
