WHO: The Gavilan College Board of Trustees
WHAT: Invites the public to comment in open session on the potential development of the Gavilan College Golf Course as a residential community for seniors, students, and faculty.
WHEN: During the regularly scheduled November meeting of the Board of Trustees: Tuesday, November 13, 7 p.m.
WHERE: North/South Lounge, Gavilan College Student Center, Gilroy main campus: 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd., Gilroy
WHY: Over the last few years, the Board of Trustees has investigated the possibility of alternative use for the district acreage now leased out as a golf course. An analysis shows a need for student residential facilities, faculty/staff housing, and active adult housing. Substantial benefits could accrue to the college from this development, including local income to support educational programs.
More information about the concept is available at http://www.gavilan.edu/master/appendix_a.htm. Anyone needing accommodation to participate should call (408) 848-4811 at least 24 hours prior to the meeting.
