WHO: Students in grades 6-8
WHAT: Are invited to participate in a day of hands-on workshops that make science fun.
Students may select among 19 exciting workshops including A Cow's Eye View, Astronomy, Geology, and "Help Build A Trebuchet." This year's event features keynote speaker Marsha Ivins, an astronaut from Johnson Space Center in Houston. The day will begin with a check-in at the Gavilan College Student Center. The students will then go to their morning workshops. Lunch will be served in the student center, and will be followed by the Keynote Presentation. The day will end with a raffle drawing and prizes. Workshops for parents are also offered, including information on preparing for College, and College Financial Aid. The parent workshops will be presented in both English and Spanish.
The cost is only $10 per participant, and a limited number of need-based scholarships are available. (The fee includes the cost of the workshop, lunch and snacks)
WHEN: Saturday, February 10, 2007, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.
