WHO: Earthday co-founder and candidate for congress Pete McCloskey
WHAT:Will speak at GavFEST, the annual spring festival and open house at Gavilan College. In keeping with the Earth Day theme, there will be distribution of plants by the Associated Student Body. GavFEST will also include live music on two stages, a Talent Showcase of the performing arts, GaviLand Kids Area, a Job Fair, Food Court, an Arts and Crafts Fair, and a Soccer Tournament. A special tent will welcome Gavilan College alumni back to campus.
GavFEST is free and open to the public. Parking will also be free.
WHEN: Saturday, May 6, 2006. GavFEST begins at 10 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m. Pete McCloskey will speak from the Main Stage at noon. Other notable attractions not to miss: Watsonville Taiko performing in the Arts Quad at 10:30 a.m., Baile Esperanza with Mariachi Santa Cecilia on the Main Stage at 11:00 a.m., The band "The Usual Suspects" on the Main Stage at 1 p.m., and Cardboard Boat Races in the Swimming Pool at 2 p.m.
WHERE: Gavilan College Gilroy Campus; 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd., Gilroy
WHY: GavFEST is a time for the community to come together and celebrate. It is a great time for prospective students and their families to find out more about Gavilan College, and meet with representatives from Admissions, Financial Aid, and numerous academic departments. Counselors will be providing drop-in assistance for registration.
