Concert for Two Pianos coming to Gavilan College



WHO: Maria Amirkhanian and Andreas Werz: After obtaining a doctoral
degree from the Moscow Conservatory in Russia, Maria Amirkhanian
returned to California State University in Fresno as newly appointed
lecturer in Piano. She will join the Gavilan College music faculty in
Fall, 2006. Andreas Werz has performed in concerts extensively
throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. He is professor of
Piano at California State University, Fresno and artistic director of
the Philip Lorenz Memorial Keyboard Concerts.

WHAT: Will perform a Concert for Two Pianos, including classical works
by Khachaturian, Bartok, and Rachmaninoffm and selections from West
Side Story by Leonard Bernstein.

WHEN: Friday, April 21, 2006, 7:30 p.m.

WHERE: Gavilan College Theater, 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd., Gilroy

WHY: Following the success and popularity of the annual Bach to Blues
Concert, Concert for Two Pianos will be the first offering of the Bach
to Blues Series, which will present music in different styles and from
different time periods to the community. The concerts will bring a
range of music to a wider audience in the South Valley and spotlight
both local and visiting musicians.

TICKETS: $10 general admission, $5 students and seniors.
