Student Ambassador Program
(Rambassador)

The purpose of the Student Rambassador Program is for Gavilan Students to assist the Outreach and Recruitment Coordinator in outreach at the local feeder schools, community events and on campus Gavilan College events.

The Rambassadors will be under the supervision of the Outreach and Recruitment Coordinator. The student Rambassadors will go through training of the college process, such as admissions, financial aid, registration, campus tours and Gavilan College’s programs and services. The Rambassador’s information will be kept in a database, so the Outreach and Recruitment Coordinator could contact them when they are needed to assist with an event or activity on or off campus.

The Outreach and Recruitment Coordinator will operate the Student Rambassador Program. Support could come from work study students and student volunteers. Both the volunteers and work study students must be individuals who are highly self-confident and self-motivated.

The job duties of each student Rambassador will be separated into the different categories and will consist of:

Outreach
Duties will include going to schools and community events with Coordinator and working with the College Career Centers at our feeder High Schools.

Campus Tours
The duties will be to assist the Coordinator with set up and campus tours. The Rambassadors will be informed of the locations and programs on the Gavilan campus.

Follow-up
The Rambassadors will assist the Coordinator on following up with the applications turned in by potential students. They will maintain a filing system and send out letters to students who turned in applications. They will also make sure the student has taken the assessment test and spoken to a counselor.

On campus
Duties will include doing follow-up with the students who entered from outreach efforts, and will assist students in finding resources, which may help retention rate.

Events and Activities
The duties will be to assist in any events on campus such as GavFest, Science Alive, Transfer Day and Graduation
