Student Evaluation of Online Courses

There are a couple of ways that distance ed students can evaluate their online courses:

  1. An online evaluation form that students can fill out online and submit. This form covers:
    • the technical aspects of the online system,
    • specific aspects of a particular class, and
    • the online experience as compared to regular face-to-face classes.
Instructors can link to the form in their online classroom (Add a Resource), and responses will come to me (Jo Anne). I can pass on information to individual instructors about their own courses.

  2. Our standard evaluation that is used in regular face-to-face classes has been digitized and is set up by Angie Oropeza for individual classes as instructors are being evaluated. Responses are automatically collated and organized, and then Angie sends the final report on to the instructor. If you want to see an example of this, let me know.

So far the main complaint I've had from distance ed students is the limited number of classes that are offered online. Otherwise, they seem happy with the Moodle system, and with the individual courses.

I've added another discussion forum for evaluation. Feel free to add to it.
