About the Department

The Communication Studies Department program trains students in the methods of communication theory and application, providing a solid basis for students to go on to four-year programs in various fields related to the humanities and social sciences, or to careers in a variety of fields.

  • The department faculty comes from a variety of backgrounds and academic expertise, offering students differing perspectives and life experiences.
  • We offer a variety of degrees and certificates to meet the academic and professional needs of our students.
  • Our department also has a number of ways for students to be involved outside of the classroom. The CommClub offers students the opportunity to gain experience mentoring other students, tutoring, fundraising, and professional connections towards a professional career. The CommClub organizes events for students throughout the year including a student forum called Speakers Corner.
  • The CMUN 10: Small Group Communication course is offered with a service learning component option every semester for those students who desire to serve their community while gaining practical experience for their resumes.
  • Many of our alumni have gone on to earn their undergraduate degrees, and their professional careers.
