Completion of the core courses and the additional requirements in a selected option (on following pages) will qualify students for either an A.S. degree and/or Certificate of Completion in Digital Media.

Program Learning Outcomes: After completing the A. A. degree or Certificate of Completion in Digital Media a student will

• analyze the relationship of aesthetics, content, user needs, and/or interactivity of projects suitable for implementing using digital media. This will enable them to synthesize a design, produce development guidelines incorporating techniques such as storyboards and flow charts and render their design using good design principles and contemporary digital technology.
• be able to perform and communicate ideas in a team environment and contribute significant work related to their option area of study.

Digital Media Options

The following six associate’s degrees and/or certificates of completion require a combination of core courses (see previous page) and additional requirements.

Digital Media A.S. Degree Digital Art and Imaging Option

Program Learning Outcome: After completing this degree a student will demonstrate an ability to use Digital Media technology and concepts to design, produce, and integrate aesthetically pleasing 2D/3D visual and animated material for film, video, web pages, CD/DVD, video games, or digital print.

Digital Media Certificate of Completion Digital Art and Imaging Option

Program Learning Outcome: After completing this certificate of completion a student will demonstrate an ability to use Digital Media technology concepts to design, produce, and integrate aesthetically pleasing 2D/3D visual and animated material for film, video, web pages, CD/DVD, video games, or digital print.

This certificate will enable a graduate to obtain entry level jobs as a graphic designer/artist for Web, CD ROM, DVD, and digital print.

To receive an Associate of Science degree students must also complete Gavilan College general education requirements.

Program Learning Outcomes: After completing this certificate of completion a student will be able to:

• create and produce time-based visual art and sound.
• analyze project definitions (including scripts or storyboards) in order to, using digital technology, creatively and logically edit video; design sound and motion graphics for broadcast or to be incorporated into web sites, CD/DVDs, video/film, video games, or cell phones.

This certificate will enable a graduate to obtain entry level jobs as a digital audio/video producer/director, video or sound editor, web streaming media designer/producer.
